Who we are

Proactive care, right where it matters most — your home.

At Balance Guard, we combine the science of physical therapy with the practicality of home safety to reduce your risk of falling before it becomes a crisis. We believe fall prevention isn’t just about equipment or exercises — it’s about understanding the whole picture: your strength, your daily routines, your environment, and how they all interact.

Over 60% of falls happen at home — yet medical providers almost never assess the home itself. That’s where we come in.

Our in-home evaluations are led by a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Fall Prevention Specialist, trained to spot the early signs of functional decline and the hidden hazards that can turn a simple trip into a life-changing injury. We go beyond clipboards and checklists. We build relationships, listen to your goals, and customize a plan that fits your lifestyle.

Whether it’s rearranging furniture, adding grip tape or lighting, reviewing medications, or progressing your strength program — we’re here to guide you with both compassion and clinical expertise.

Our services include:

  • Comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and strength/balance screenings

  • Room-by-room safety walk-throughs with instant feedback and actionable changes

  • Installation of basic fall prevention tools during the first visit

  • Clear, tailored recommendations for equipment or home modifications

  • Ongoing support through our Preventative Care Partnership

  • Peace of mind — for you, your family, and your future

We're not a one-time checklist. We're a long-term safety partner, here to help you stay independent, confident, and in control of your health.

About the Founder

Dr. Bert Lund, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy | Certified Fall Prevention Specialist

I’m Dr. Bert Lund — a licensed physical therapist since 2015, fall prevention advocate, and founder of Balance Guard Home Safety.

Throughout my years working in clinics, I’ve treated countless patients after a fall or hospitalization. Time and again, I saw how many of these events could have been avoided — not with more medication or another referral, but with timely education, practical tools, and a careful look at the home environment.

That’s the gap I set out to fill.

Balance Guard was built to bring skilled evaluation, personalized guidance, and proactive support into the place where most falls actually occur: the home. Despite the fact that over 60% of falls happen inside the home, most medical providers never step foot inside to assess it. I wanted to change that.

With Balance Guard, I’ve combined my clinical training with a preventive, relationship-driven model. My goal is to help you feel safe without feeling limited — to give families peace of mind, and to give aging adults the support they need to stay where they feel most comfortable.

I’m honored to bring this work into the homes and lives of those I serve.
